Earlier this month, Arkansas Valley Electric was honored by the University of the Ozarks with a Community Champion award for the commitment to supporting education and for being a strong advocate for Ozarks and its students for six decades. AVECC has been supporting student scholarships at Ozarks since 1961 and has provided more tax $50,000 in support to the University during that span. AVECC regularly supports the Wallace M. Milton scholarship fund. Milton served as the AVECC's superintendent in 1937 and laster served as general manager. The Wallace M. Milton scholarship fund was established in memory of Milton following his death in 1976. The scholarship is awarded to a U of O student from the AVECC service territory.
