Intern Spotlight - Ruthie Qualls
Ruthie Qualls, an incoming Freshman at Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas is an Education major. She is interning this summer at AVECC Headquarters in Ozark in the Multimedia department.
“The reason I pursued this internship is because I wanted to learn all that I could about multimedia. I think there is so much to learn since it is an up-and-coming department. There is so much room for creative liberty, and I wanted to experience that for myself.”
Ruthie continues, "The work environment here is so nice. My coworkers are genuine and so sweet. I love that they make an effort to get to know me and make me feel comfortable."
Under the guidance of Multimedia Specialist Barbara Jenkins, Ruthie collaborates with her multimedia team to promote and inform Arkansas Valley Electric members about the latest cooperative updates and events. “My favorite experience was probably the cooking show. I wasn’t prepared for it. It’s surprising to people when I mention my internship, as they don’t expect cooking to be part of my role. It's just fun because it makes the job more interesting than just sitting behind a desk. It makes my job more entertaining.”
As an intern this summer, Ruthie has had the chance to engage in a multitude of projects within the department, allowing her to develop new skills, engage with her team, and contribute to meaningful initiatives that impact the cooperative. “As a Multimedia Intern, I’ve been involved in a variety of projects, including the cooking show, interviews, and podcasts. Additionally, we’ve written articles and created social media posts.”
