Ryan is a Sophomore Electrical Engineering Major at Arkansas Tech University and is interning at AVECC's Headquarters in the Engineering Department this summer.
Ryan has a special connection to the cooperative as his mom, Jeri Beth Morris, is a member and an AVECC accountant. "I grew up hearing stories about the co-op from my mom, which greatly encouraged my interest in electricity," he shared.
He elaborated on his transition from being the son of an AVECC employee to becoming an AVECC employee. "As in the name itself, the environment here is very cooperative. Everyone works together and has a much closer atmosphere than an average company. Even with the members themselves, everyone is just so friendly."
Ryan explained his appreciation for this internship's role in "connecting the dots." He continued, "Most of the stuff I have been doing on the job, we have gone over in class. Sometimes in school, I can't help but think, 'How in the world is this going to apply to me?' and being here has allowed me to apply these things in the real world."
